Everything Old Is New Again

1.      The economy will re-open slowly, in fits and starts, depending on region, industry, etc.

2.      Some business and consumer behaviors will be changed permanently.

The need for successful businesses to continually validate and refine their strategies – and align their organizations accordingly – is not new. Read any of a number of recent classic books like “Built To Last” or “Good To Great” to see these themes from the past.

Similarly, the business press has been full of articles for some time regarding rapidly changing consumer and technological trends remaking industry after industry.

But now, more than ever, these actions are imperative and urgent.

The pandemic has temporarily shuttered some businesses, required others to only operate in a limited fashion, and driven explosive growth for a select few. Experts differ on their predictions as to how long it will last, but most folks expect two things to be true:

1.      The economy will re-open slowly, in fits and starts, depending on region, industry, etc.

2.      Some business and consumer behaviors will be changed permanently.

Thus, it is important for every business to re-evaluate their vision, strategy, and operations for a “relaunch” (whether technically shuttered or not, every business will need to “relaunch” in the sense of adapting to the new environment).
